A place to share, repair, and reuse.

Rethink what you need, change how you buy, and reduce waste.

The Hub is a community centre helping local people learn how to live more sustainably.

In a world where we can order 50 envelopes with one click, it’s too easy to have more than we need, spend more than we’d like, and unintentionally create waste. The Hub is about unlearning those modern habits and making it easier for us all to recycle, reuse, and reduce our shared environmental footprint.

How it works

We are not a charity shop but a community resource. By working together,
we can provide accessible, affordable solutions to living more sustainably.

Inside The Hub

We’re a bit of a Tardis! Check out what’s on offer inside The Hub…

Pre-loved Children’s Clothing

Due to The Hub's increasing popularity, we have decided to simplify our buying process. We will no longer offer clothing-swapping options. Instead, there will be a minimum donation amount for items you’d like to buy.

We continue to accept donations of children’s clothing that fit the following criteria:

- Clean
- Damage free
- Stain-free

We don’t have facilities to wash clothing, so please only donate good quality items and save any clothing that can no longer be used for the kerbside collection (put clothes in a tied carrier bag next to your green bin).

You can find out details about the council textile recycling here - White Horse District Council Waste Pages

Pre-loved Clothing & Bric a Brac

We accept household bric-a-brac, toys, clothing and accessories.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept:

  • Large items, such as furniture.

  • Children’s car seats

  • Duvets and pillows

  • Broken toys

  • Safety equipment

  • Electrical items

  • CDs or DVDs

  • Broken or damaged bric-a-brac.

We endeavour to take as many items as we can. If we are unable to accept what you bring in, we will advise you on other places you can recycle your things.

If you are unsure, please email us to check before bringing your items in, so you don’t have a wasted journey. Contact us at: sustainableshrivenham@gmail.com.

All items are marked with a suggested donation amount, just like in most charity shops.

The Book Room

Pre-loved books as far as the eye can see!

Everything you love about a bookshop, but at a fraction of the cost. Pop in and browse our extensive collection of good-condition books. We have a variety of genres for adults, as well as a children’s books section.

If you have books you’ve read and would like to pass on, you can donate them to us, as long as they are in good, readable condition.

Refill & Plastic Free

We offer a modest range of refill products (see below) SESI to help you reduce your plastic and use more environmentally friendly products

Recycling Schemes

In our recycling room, you can bring clean, soft plastics and other difficult-to-recycle items such as coffee pouches, Pringle’s tubes and blister packs. Soft plastics are actually taken off for recycling by the Co-op next door. We just collect them and deliver them to the Co-op!

Blister packs are surprisingly expensive to recycle, so if you bring those in, we do ask that you make a small donation to the cost, if you are able.

We take the following:

A selection of some of the items in our craft scrap store

Hubby Craft (Scrap Store)

We are here so goods can be redistributed and reused. We don’t order stock but sell what we’re given. You might pop in because you need one cotton reel or a single pencil, but you don’t need to buy a box of 10. By only buying what you need, you share resources and reduce waste.

We now sell craft items by weight. Please see in store for details.

Repair Team

Once a month our fantastic volunteer repairers will do their best to fix your broken household items, so they don't go in the bin.

We will accept and attempt to fix any small household items, as well as offer minor bike repairs/servicing and small clothing repairs.

We don't charge for repairs, but we do ask for a donation that suits your budget, to help us fund the Hub to stay open. You will need to pay for any spare parts that may be required.

The Repair Team are at The Hub on the fourth Saturday of every month from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm (last items taken at noon).

Upcoming dates:

Sat 23rd Nov | No repair Cafe in December | 2025 | Sat 25th Jan | Sat 22nd Feb
